Breland, Sandy

Sandy Breland is a Senior Vice President with Raycom Media with oversight of sixteen television stations across the Southeast. Breland works closely with Raycom Media's National Investigative Unit and was key in developing and launching InvestigateTV, an innovative OTT app that delivers high-quality, impactful journalism on demand. She has received some of the broadcast industry's highest honors. Breland strives to exhibit her core value that local broadcasters have a responsibility to serve their communities. That's why when devastating floods hit Louisiana in August 2016, Breland quickly organized "Louisiana Rising," a Labor Day concert to benefit flood victims. The concert was aired on all Raycom Media stations, the Bounce Network, and dozens of stations owned by other broadcast groups. In all, more than $800,000 was raised for flood relief. Breland was honored with a Suncoast Emmy for her work in Louisiana Rising.

Prior to becoming a Senior VP in 2015, Breland served as Regional Vice President and General Manager of WVUE-TV, the Fox affiliate in New Orleans. During her tenure as General Manager, WVUE was honored with three national Edward R Murrow Awards including Best Newscast. Breland first joined Raycom Media in 2008 and served five years as Vice President/General Manager of WAFB/WBXH in Baton Rouge.

She also served two years as Executive News Director of KTVK-TV in Phoenix and eleven years as Executive News Director of WWL-TV, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans. Breland was honored with a Peabody, Dupont, and National Murrow, for her planning and execution of WWL's coverage during Hurricane Katrina. She is a recipient of the RTNDF's First Amendment Award and the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award for public service.

Breland serves on the Fox Board of Governors, the LSU Manship Board of Visitors and is past chairman of the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. She is actively involved in the NAB and is a member of NABPAC.

Breland holds a BA in Journalism from Loyola University-New Orleans. She has also attended continuing education sessions at Columbia University's Sulzberger Leadership Program, Missouri University's Management Program for Broadcast Professional, and the Poynter Institute.
